Welcoming a new baby is an exciting milestone, but it also comes with various medical costs that require careful financial planning. 🌸 Maternity Benefit Limits Based on Company Group Size
Under the BVCare (New) policy structure, the annual maternity benefit limit—covering childbirth and pregnancy complications—is determined by the corporate group size. Notably, these benefits reimburse actual, medically necessary expenses and are not restricted by standard daily room-and-board caps.
| Group Size | Total Maternity Benefit / Year | Normal Delivery & Non-Surgical Complications | C-Section & Surgical Complications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 50 employees | 15,000,000 VND | Up to 8,000,000 VND / person / year | Up to 15,000,000 VND / person / year |
| 51 – 100 employees | 20,000,000 VND | Up to 10,000,000 VND / person / year | Up to 20,000,000 VND / person / year |
| 101 – 200 employees | 30,000,000 VND | Up to 25,000,000 VND / person / year | Up to 30,000,000 VND / person / year |
These financial limits offer meaningful support, giving expectant mothers greater confidence when choosing a medical facility that fits their family’s preferences.
🏥 Public Hospital Childbirth Allowance
In addition to reimbursing actual medical costs, BVCare (New) provides an extra daily hospital cash allowance to encourage and assist employees giving birth at public medical facilities:
- Normal delivery at a public hospital: Cash allowance of 1,000,000 VND / person / year.
- C-section at a public hospital: Cash allowance of 2,000,000 VND / person / year.
Important note: This supplementary allowance applies exclusively to standard departments in public hospitals. It does not apply to voluntary admission wings, on-demand treatment wards, VIP/service wards, or international departments. 🩺 Prenatal Check-Ups and Outpatient Complications
Proper maternal care requires regular clinical visits across different developmental milestones of pregnancy. When corporate plans include the optional outpatient rider, BVCare (New) provides dedicated outpatient pregnancy coverage:
- Routine prenatal examinations: Capped at 5% of the Outpatient Sum Insured per person per year. This coverage includes consultations, ultrasounds, pregnancy-related urinalysis, complete blood count (CBC) tests, and doctor-prescribed medications.
- Outpatient pregnancy complications: Reimbursed up to 500,000 VND / person / year for medical management of covered outpatient pregnancy complications.

👶 Newborn Nursery Care Expenses
For corporate contracts covering 50 or more employees, BVCare (New) extends protection to include nursery and immediate newborn care:
- Payout limit: Up to 1% of the supplementary limit of liability per person per year.
- Covered scope: Nursery medications, routine newborn laboratory tests, and standard newborn hygiene care at the hospital immediately after delivery, provided the mother has not yet been discharged.
- Key exclusions: This benefit excludes congenital disorders, birth defects, and infant vaccinations.
⏳ Waiting Periods and Eligibility Conditions
To ensure smooth claim settlements, insured members must take note of waiting period requirements and eligible beneficiary categories:
- Groups of 50 or fewer employees: A 90-day waiting period applies to pregnancy complications, and a 270-day waiting period applies to childbirth, calculated from the policy effective date.
- Groups of 51 or more employees: A pro-rata settlement mechanism is applied based on 90 days for complications and 270 days for childbirth.
- Eligible members: Applies to female employees and the legal spouses of male employees (if enrolled in the group policy). Maternity benefits do not apply to dependent children. For dependent eligibility criteria, refer to Adding Family Members to BVCare: Spouse, Children and Parents by Group Size.
Understanding these policy conditions allows expectant parents to plan proactively for medical costs. For exact policy wording and plan schedules applied to your organization, consult your company’s HR benefits administrator or an insurance advisor.
